Although this is already and "older" reference – it was the first large project – we want to include it in this list because it shows well the flexibility of Inter Networks. As the EC has very elaborate procedures and standards for methods and tools, compliance to these standards was very important. Not only did the project have to work in the end, how it was developed needed to adhere strictly to these standards.
The challenge of this project was to develop a maintainable web site in 11 languages – not only the interface, but also the data itself. For this purpose an interface was developed with the translation company to request and receive translations of the draft proposal texts and of the structured messages.
The system that we developed supported the information procedure to send and receive structured messages from all EU Member State, other EC units and other involved parties.
During this 4 year project, we developed a range of applications :
- an internal management application (developed in Powerbuilder / Oracle)
- a public website (Oracle Web Application Server)
- an extranet for the Member State Central Units and EC staff (Coldfusion / Oracle)
We also delivered various services :
- Migration of the old data
- Help Desk
- Data entry of all draft proposal texts
- Management of translations of the final texts
